Default You didnt have to take it all off

You remove the bumper and the lower valence, then unbolt the radiator support and pull it forward a couple inches to gain access to the front of the engine so you can squeeze your hands in there and some tools.....

Default No. The manual is only a gearbox, they run forever.

I had a fluid change on my 97 VW Golf GTI VR6 at 100K. The old oil loocked like the new.

Default I would change tranny and differential fluids at least every 60 k miles.

I saw yellow metal flakes in both. The A4 has a fairly weak 1st gear, so keeping the fluid fresh is cheap insurance.

Default Yeah, I realized that I didn't have to take it all off after I was all done.

But I have been wanting to know how it all went together anyway, so I figured that this would be a good time to do it. If I were to do it again, I wouldn't take it all off though.
