My 96A4 12 valve is recently very slow to warm up. It take 20 minutes of driving for the temp gauge to reach normal. It does not jump around. Ran a vag and no codes are coming up. I figured it was an open stat but bottom hose does not feel warm until guage reaches normal. Any one have idea what may be causing. thanks

otherwise I would say its one of the Temp sensors on the back of the head.

No, I am in MN but it has been the warmest jan in a long time, and it did not do this last year.

on my 92 100....actually, both of them, but my symptoms related to the bad gauge sensor were that the gauge would stay pegged at zero until the car was way warmed up, then it would zoom up to the middle of the gauge.

Now the needle moves gradually, just like it should.
