I didn't leave it run for 30 mins due to no radiator and I was nervous. It's obviously "louder" than grillage's video, but the whole front end it open as well.

i dont think that cooling setup will work, because audi uses a pressurized cooling system. so i would install the radiator back on and run it for about 30 min and toward the end of that time frame, give it high revs to about 2-3k

I did just that (minus the radiator - watched the temp gauge CLOSELY - it did burp steam once the t-stat opened) a good 20 min warmup with a few brief 2000 RPM and 3000 RPM stints. Everything is "normal" sounding now. No weird sounds or vibrations anymore!! Time to put the front end back together and get it back on the road.
