Default Try searching for 471 or 471A over the last two weeks. I remember seeing some pics recently but
didn't save the link since it doesn't pertain to me.

Default I think Patience is going to try this soon.
He fabricated a larger bore MAF (not quite S3 MAF, but lager than the choked-down MAF on his '93 90Q.) He used some metallic form of epoxy to form an outer shell and bored the smaller MAF. It seems to have made a very noticeable difference in his car.

I know that Patience is now trying to get a 471 MAF. I'm sure he'll post his findings when he's done.

Default I thought I remembered a pic of a 471 MAF with most of the sampling column removed and the smaller
bore MAF sensor in it.

Default My question is will the 471A talk to the ECU from the small bore maf...
meaning, do the two different mafs have the same output patterns?

No. You need to use the sensor from your small bore MAF, whatever you do.

Default You will need the 078 133 471 (no A!) and then you swap the electronics.
I will have answers about how well it works by Friday.
