Default Upgrading old MAF sensor (078 133 471) to later type (078 133 471A)...

Found the old type sensor probe/element on my sons 1995 90S today which I knew from MikTip would give us problems if I just ran with the stock MAF sensor in a bored MAF housing. Didn't want to send it out for re-calibration and didn't want to buy the new style and toss a perfectly good sensor. So I did the next best thing. Made a sleeve with calibrated hole and bored the housing to same diameter as newer version MAF housings.

All specs/dimensions are identical to the later style probe assy. Only difference is a little more radius added at the tip and I used aluminum instead of plastic.

It's in the car now and working incredibly well. No codes or CEL's.

Default Pic 2: calibrated port sleeve installed over stock probe

Voila!! Instant 078 133 471A conversion. Identical volt values at cold/warm idle, transition, partial and load as the newer "A" style. Only difference is the sensor tip.

Default Cheater! ;-) Hurry up and post some feedback on that lovely Easter-purple fogger...

I love the smell of nitrous in the morning, but up til now only at early root canal appointments. Got individually adjustable cannula's for passenger and driver with headphones and a small tv?

Default Looks good. Can't wait to hear how you like it!

Does this mean you are going to the 1/4 mile track as more than a spectator/mechanic?
