Mori and PearlA4 (at a minimum) this is for you!
I noticed a clunking in the front end when driving the car over the weekend, so I jacked it up to see what new project is waiting for me. Imagine my suprise to see that the tie rod ends, now with less than 20,000 miles on them, are quite loose! The tie rod ends are the BAW parts that I found on eBay a couple of years ago, asked about in this forum, bought and installed - due to the color/appearance, some thought that they were Meyle parts. Despite having the "improved" larger ball ends, these parts are total crap!!!!
As I recall, others bought these parts as well, so I am sending out a warning to inspect them. I just ordered genuine Meyle replacement parts, about three times the price, but how often do I want to do this job? I hope to have a much easier time with replacement since I used a liberal amount of anti-sieze when I installed this set; the original parts were rusted onto the inner tie rods and took a lot of work to remove.

in Germany. There's posts all over AudiWorld about the lack of quality and longevity associated with anything "Meyle."<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/9080/msgs/401355.phtml">One such post</a></li></ul>

I figured that for about $50 each, the Meyle TREs should be decent products - apparently not, after looking at some of these posts here on Audiworld. Note that genuine TRW parts (the OEM) for my SAAB can be purchased for about $15 - $20 each and seem to last twice as long as the ones on my Audi. At this point, price is not the motivating factor.
Before I waste another few hours putting the Meyle parts on the car (parts arrived today from Blau), what are decent Tie Rod Ends, other than the Audi parts that have known problems as well (i.e. the rubber insert)? Are Lemfoerder any good (they are even more expensive)?
