Default would it be better to use a plug with more platinum? I had to +4 and i thought they were great,

better gas mileage, more power. Although I think they have a sound to them. I have the stock 3 prong plugs in and dont like them. Is it just me?

Default Let me elaborate a bit

The NGK plugs, which are nickel-plated, have lasted easily 30k miles in my engine, and they were still good. I did use Bosch +4 plugs once, and only for a maybe 10k miles -- and they looked awful! In my motor, all of the plugs'center electrodes were fried away at least partially. Just look at the platinum center electrode: it's puny! Compare that to the NGK plug. Platinum doesn't even conduct better than copper or nickel-plated copper. It's supposed to last longer, but in the Bosch +4's case I doubt that claim, based on my experience. I know some people have used the Bosch +4 plugs with no ill effect, but I know even more people who swear by the OEM NGK plugs.

Just look at your plugs. If they look fine, keep using whatever you're using.

I would prefer my denso iridium, but I messed 2 of my denso iridium plugs (I thought I can re-gap those iridium tip and boy... I was wrong)

Default uh...it uh...misfires...(more)

cyl #4 was the culprit...so i got 5 new ngk (s4) plugs (cause that's all they had) and left #4 in...

still happened. replaced #4 and it all went away.

as per the misfire: ever hear a boxer (subaru) engine with a loud exhaust? it's kinda rough, very unstable idle...car shook a lot and it felt like the engine was about to fall off.
