I'm trying to find out what those wear metals were that I found in the tranny and rear differential gear oil.
Tranny fluid:
-silvery flakes, powder-like particles, and a few shavings, all magnetic
Rear differential:
1. golden flakes and particles, non-magnetic
2. very few silvery magnetic particles
I was told that most differentials and axles use roller and ball bearings with steel races, and that modern rear differential do not contain ANY brass or bronze parts, and that there shouldn't be any golden flakes in there.
