sure, but you'd have to keep the MAF screen.

You might be able to modify a C4 velocity stack.

Default If you are doing this yourself, do not bore the MAF at all, just remove the sampling tube.

Did you realize the screen itself is restricting flow? Why go only half way?

Default Yes, i know that the screen restricts flow, but without it, or a VS, then you get a CEL

so if I bored out the maf to 3" and keep the screen, them im still going to have alot more flow then what it was originally.

and once I get a VS, or make one. then I can remove the screen.

And why not bore it out if im doing it myself?

I have access to a mill.

Default What angle/shape are you giving the interior walls?

Bigger isn't necessarily better, flow wise. Straight-through walls with larger ID will flow worse than the stock bore walls with sampling tube removed.

It's all about the shape.

A velocity stack is probably the cheapest/easiest upgrade available for this engine that actually makes a difference. Why do you not want one? If you can bore an MAF then flaring a bit of tubing should be child's play.

Default I do want the VS, but i didn't have one yet, and just wondered if boring the maf without would

actually do anything, but yes, I was going to do just a straight through bore.

Thanks for the info.

Default Modifying the MAF introduces all kinds of possibilities for CELs.

Do you have an Air/Fuel meter? If not, then get one and become familiar with it's patterns before attempting to DIY this mod.

This has all been covered hundreds of times here. Do more searching.

Short answer: No, you could still get a CEL.

Default 2nd, there are the possibilities of gains from these things, but as nothing has said.....

modding the MAF in ANY WAY can (and very well may)introduce a mil/cel
