Hello,
I am in the Toronto area and my 2016 Audi TT has recently stalled out in traffic and refused to turn on. When it would turn on it would either sputter and die right away or run extremely rough. Undrivable.
I brought it to a mechanic and he is telling me it is some valve deeper within the engine he needs to change and he wants to replace the timing chain and guides at the same time. The car has 115 000Km on it, so a little early for timing chain.
Is $3400 CAD a reasonable price for this job? What have you guys paid for similar work?
Thanks,

Does your mechanic have lofs of experience with VW/Audi engines? There should be codes that identify what the problem might be. If the engine actually turns over and does run albeit briefly there are multiple things to check first before saying it's a timing chain problem.
