Default 2.0T Stalling Issues

I have a 2.0T FSI A4 that has this wierd issue where the car will start for about 2 seconds (rev up to 1200rpm) then it will putter or stall out. If I try starting the car again, it starts up fine.

I already had 2 dealers here in S.Fla check this problem 5 times and the last time the dealer stated there is no problem because the car does not have any error codes. Over the 5 visits to the dealers I have had a fuel sensor replaced, high pressure fuel pump, and the ecu reflashed 3 times.

The car is still stalling and I have captured this with my cam so I will try to get some videos uploaded for everyone to see.

Any one have any ideas on what could be causing this problem? A camshaft sensor maybe?

Try your other keyfob. The key transmits a signal to the security system (part of the guage cluster). I had a similar problem and switched keys. Now all is good

I tried my other key fob to start the car and the first attempt it took about 5 seconds to start. On the second attempt, the car started and then stalled.

I contacted the dealer and they are going to take a look at it today. Hopefully they can figure out what is going on. They mentioned it might be the key sensor unit that you mentioned.

Default I had the same thing on my '94 90, the idle stabilization valve got clogged

I'm not sure the 2.0T has the same thing (I also have a 2L B7) but on my 90, I had an idle stabilization valve I cleaned when the idle was too low and was about to stall the engine.

I removed it the valve, drenched it in WD-40 and shook it with my fingers covering the holes to get it well lubricated, let the solution drain. Repeat until the WD-40 solution color is unchanged. Give it plenty of time to dry and replace.

I don't have a book or anything, nor have I needed to do this for my 2.0T but it's something I'd look into. Make sure WD-40 can still be applied to the valve though, if there is one. I know WD-40 does break down rubber or some other materials. As an alternative, I think I used White Lithium Grease on the rubber pieces of my 90's suspension when it started squeaking.

Good luck.<ul><li><a href="http://www.audifans.com/pipermail/v6-12v/2005-November/001381.html">Bonus: A 3-year old archive email of mine telling someone else about the procedure.</a></li></ul>

Default I was having this on cold-starts only. There is a TSB on the throttle vale wiring harness

Car is all better now. Replaced under warranty.
Mine would throw codes, however.

Thanks for the info on the valve. I mentioned it to my service writer and they said they would check it out.

When I got my car back the last week of December they said they replaced the valve and filter but then another problem came up where the fuel rails were not getting any fuel.

Long story short, they replaced my fuel pump (again), filters, valve, and some other part that is only denoted by a serial number.

So far the car has been working great for the past 3 weeks with no stalling (knocks on wood).

I had to contact a lemon law attorney in order for AoA to do anything with my claims. Hopefully this was the last time I had to bring it to Champion.
