Greetings from Texas.
Appreciate any and all help.I'll keep it short and sweet.
Bought a 2011 A5 with a bad 2.0T engine. A local shop has a 2.0T from a 2013 model Audi that they said is comparable and will match evenly. I thought 2009 2.0 thru 2012 were the same and ut slightly changed in 2013.
Can that 2013 engine work on my 2011.A5?
Thanks in advance

B8 2.0T swap.
B8.0 2.0T will be CAE engine. Direct swap with any other B8.0 2.0T CAE engine. B8.0 is MY09-MY12. You'll need to move over your flexplate/flywheel if the new engine had a different transmission type.
B8.5 2.0T will be either CAE engine or CPM engine. To swap in a B8.5 CAE engine, you have to replace the B8.5 3-pin engine speed sensor with the B8.0 2-pin engine speed sensor, and you have to replace the B8.5 accessory bracket / oil filter stand with the B8.0 one (to support the power steering pump). If it's a B8.5 CPM engine (flex fuel engine), then you have additional swapping with your original engine, the intake manifold and the fuel injectors. In either case, you have the same flexplate/flywheel check as with any swap.
Plenty have used B8.5 base engines into B8.0, just a matter of the details. The above is off the top of my head, could be more I'm forgetting.
A 2011 may or may not have the old tensioner design, be sure to validate that. Both a 2011 and a 2013 will eventually develop excessive chain elongation. Check the tensioner extension and go ahead and do the chain job if it's near while you've got things all apart.
