Default 2014 a4 engine failure (do I have any recourse?)

Hey everyone,

my car entered limp mode suddenly when I was driving it on the highway. I took it to Audi shop. Was told a piston cracked / failed which resulted in no compression to one of the cylinders.

i was told I can swap the engine or send the engine off to a machine shop to be broken down and replace the piston. Either way the cost was around $7500.

I was told there are numerous lawsuits against Audi for this issue but I haven’t seen news of any of them concluding yet.

any chance I can get Audi to cover this work ?(I’m out of warranty)

or am I screwed and have to pay out of pocket?

thanks for any insight.

Perhaps read this. There apparently is a class action lawsuit either being contemplated or perhaps filed by now. This is from last year.
Classaction Info

7500 might be what you would pay for a used motor of 75K mi or higher to be installed which could have same issue. The only way to go is full rebuild and that can be well over 10K to have it all done right. I just had a 2.0t motor a couple years back so I am familiar with costs.
