AU: Q5 2.0 TFSI HATD TO START WHEN HOT
Hi I am hoping someone can shed some light on this
I have the Q5 tfsi E888 gen 2 engine in my car
I have done a TD05 conversion large fmic , IE Stage 3 tune ect , it goes really well.
Sometimes it will not start , it fires but won’t start , occasionally I hold the accelerator to the floor and I can get it to go but not every time
I have replaced nearly everything trying to find the problem
crank angle sensor / cam sensor / temp sensor / water pump and temp sender / airflow meter / spark plugs / fuel pressure sender and yesterday I did a new set of injectors
even tried another fuel pump but that didn’t fix the problem
the only thing I can see in the OBD is that when you turn the car off the fuel pressure somehow increases to like 1000psi above normal
When you try to start it it fires but fails to start
sometimes leaving me stranded
if I let it cool down or crack ghe nut and relieve the pressure on the high pressure fuel line I can get it to start
about the only thing I haven’t changed is the coil packs
has anybody come across this problem ???
ps I can drive the car for 8 hours and it doesn’t miss a beat until I turn it off

Hey I am having a similar issue and posted a thread about it in the Audi TT MK3 forum. You can find it here: https://www.audiworld.com/forums/tt-...ector-3062802/
My car wont start properly when it is hot, it sputters or stalls out a few times but eventually I get it going. I am assuming it is a leaky injector. I am just having so much trouble diagnosing it.
I see this was posted almost 2 months ago, any luck finding out what was wrong? Thanks,

That was my response to a similar question. I can't recall the specific threads where the topic was discussed back in the AZ B8 A4 forum over the years.
But a Mk3 TT is probably using a Gen3 engine. So not quite the same, but I don't see why it would be any different in this regard.

Thanks SMac! I also got a similar response from someone with a gti with a gen 3 engine that brought it to VW for A MONTH and it took them that long to come to this same conclusion. Appreciate you confirming that is the likely culprit. Cheers!
