According to this Audi Oil and Fuel Brochure on the Audi website, it says:
"If most of your driving is done over short distances, using Audi fuel additive every 3,000 miles will help keep your engine clean and performing at its best."
Does anyone who fits that driving profile actually add Audi fuel additives? And if so, do you buy it at the dealer and add it yourself or is it something you need to bring it in for?
Thanks.

Fuel additives are added by pouring around a 16 oz. bottle of a cleaner additive to your fuel tank. That is a do it yourself thing, if you are able to put gas in the tank.
This is not difficult, and some popular ones are Seafoam, Chevron Techron injector cleaner, and many others. Not sure about the Audi one, and its contents.
It is probably one of these with a Audi label.

It might benefit an older car, a 5000S, for example. But its benefit on a newer, direct-injection motor will be limited, at best. Stick with a Top Tier gasoline and use the correct octane.

I know it’s an old inactive thread but I would look a little deeper and maybe call your dealer. I’ve found copies of that brochure and the date on it is marked 2010. So if your car is near and around that year I would say it makes sense to follows those instructions. However, much newer models may not have the same recommendation and I couldn’t find one for anything newer. I have 2018 A4 and I’m a dick with the dealer making sure everything is done with my car perfectly (I even got under the car right in their lot to inspect their work in front of their head mechanic) and they haven’t mentioned it. Neither has the high performance Porsche/Lambo/Ferrari shop I go to for non factory schedule maintenance
