Help Vibration damper & Chain Sprocket 2023 Allroad
Hello. I'm in a trouble right now and I hope someone can explain what steps should we follow to not mess the current situation worse.
I have an USA 2023 Audi A4 Av. Allroad quattro 2.0 A4 (Engine code: DPAA). I needed to replace engine timing cover & vibration damper. Unfortunately I was not aware about T10531 tool set to prevent incorrect jumping.
We stabilized the damper and unscrewed the bolt. After new timing cover was applied and before trying to insert the vibration damper we noticed that the chain sprocket is not in the middle but a bit way up. I suspect that while unscrewing the bolt probably it moved a bit or due to the tension of the chain. Currently is it any possibility to restore back the chain sprocket in correct position and make sure it's in the middle to put back the damper and the bolt.
Anyone can suggest the steps which I should follow in order to sort out this issue.
I don't see the cam chain tensioner restrained with the clip. So that chain is pulling 100% of the time on that chain sprocket. That's why the new special tool, "The vibration damper bolt -A- connects the vibration damper -1-, the timing chain sprocket -2- and the crankshaft -3- with each other. Before removing the bolt, the chain sprocket must be secured to the crankshaft as described in the following." That tool came years after the EA888 introduced. I imagine they ran into too many failures with the original process of "just remove the bolt and believe".
I have no idea if it's a pipe dream to expect to be able to seat the sprocket on the crank correctly under those conditions.
