Default JB4 Tuner for Audi EA888 Gen4 2.0 TFSI 261hp & 265hp

The JB4 chip tuner has just been released for the 2021 version of the EA888, and I ordered one. I’m looking for a little extra power, especially in the lower RPMs with hopefully very little or no loss of fuel efficiency. I am a geezer, not a racer… certainly not one to thrash the engine, though I wouldn’t say I baby it, either. (I do make a point to mash it one or twice per outing for engine health). I have been averaging over 31 MPG on my allroad covering just under 3000 miles since new (mostly highway and rural driving).

The unit is pricey at $529 plus connector but we all have our priorities and I guess I just decided this was one of mine, lol.

It was designed for the A4 sedan and allroad, and the A5 shipped this MY+

I’ll report back my impressions here. I’m psyched to be one of the first to try it out.

JB4 version 16

Correction: the Q5 engines used in MY 2021 and 2022 are still the previous generation and use a different JB4 version.

I did install the device and it’s working well. In order not to duplicate info, I have posted in another forum where there is more frequent posting related to mods of various kinds. Here, the engine specific threads are not looked at much.

I bought the JB4 including a Bluetooth module, so I could change maps on the fly, by using a mobile app.
It drained my battery in 4 hrs. JB4 support recommends returning to the previous firmware, which is not a simple task. I decided to get deeper into the technicals and found out that JB4 is based on a concept that constantly overrides ECU parameters and simultaneously keeps running a routine to erase (in real-time) all the errors (a lot of them) that this override generates. I find it a very poor concept not to mention the malfunctioning issue. I could notice the power increase though.
I can send it to whoever wants, for free. Dont want it near my car.
thanks!

Wow! I wish I could have gotten mine for free. I love it and haven’t had any issues, battery or otherwise

This is not true. You talking about a feature that is called Passive delete and is used when cars are fitted with a downpipe. This is blocked anyway in the US for legal reasons and cannot be activated so in essence all users would be have the errors you mention.
