Default Timing Chain Tensioner 2011 A3 8P- Advice Needed!

Im the new owner of a 2011 Audi A3 2.0 TFSI and the timing chain tensioner is the original with 166,000 KM on the car.

Audi dealership checked out the car and said there is no evidence of any issues with the engine timing, no suspicious noise etc. They advised that the tensioner, chain guides etc shouldn't be changed.

Is this foolish to wait to change? They quoted me $3800 CAD for the whole job (about $2800 USD). Is this a fair estimate?

I absolutely love the car. I plan on keeping it for at least 10 years and would prefer the peace of mind.

My final question: Is the original tensioner just poorly designed and it fails at random, or does it get worn out due to other factors like chain stretch, poorly maintained engine etc?

Thanks in advance to any and all who take time to help me out!
