Default Help solve mystery repeat misfires on allroad 2.7t cylinders 4, 5, and 6.

After the dealer replaced the timing belt, I have been getting random and multiple misfoires on one side of the engine, cylinders 4,5, and 6 with out any other fault codes on VAG. Cleaned the injectors replaced the plugs, still keeps happpening, without any obvious cause. Dealer then claimed the cam adjuster was out of adjustment, fixed that for free, two weeks later same misfires. Now they claim there is a problem with the cylinder head. Thought ideas? Would the cam adjustor being out of adjustment cause damage to the head. I have little confidence in th edealer

Default Since it's all on one bank, possibly an ICM?

After what you did if its not the ICM or the coils the timing belt is probably off. And if it was off for long time there is a small chance that it could create a problem to the head.
I would switch the ICM's btn them, if you see that the missifres went to 1-3 then you found the problem. If not I would check the TB. From what I know cam adjustors are not adjustable. I would also check the Camshaft Hall or possition sensors that they are within spec.
Hope this helps.

Default I can sympathize with you - similar mysterious misfire

The whole bank suggests items common to the bank, such as the ICM, O2 sensor, EGT sensor, cam timing.

Adjusters don't 'go out of adjustment', but they can have the wrong number of links between cams. This would have been a cam position fault though.

Can you check the cam timing yourself? Pop the covers off the cam pulleys, turn the crank until the no.1 TDC mark lines up on the crank pulley and put a straight edge across the ears of the locating brackets on the end of the camshafts - all holes should be in a nice line.

You can check your ICMs very easily - they are just transistors. Search for 'power output stage testing' and you will find. I have changed plugs, moved coils, swapped ICM's, swapped injectors but still have a misfire. I think I have a fault in the wiring somewhere....

A quick compression check might tell you more about 4,5 and 6 cam timing if you compare with 1,2 and 3.
