30V AHA engine fuel requirements
Hey there - sorry if this is an old question, but i read through the first few pages of posts and did some searching to no avail.
I'm wondering if anyone uses regular (gasp!) fuel in the AHA engine, now that a tank of gas costs nearly as much as a new car. I'm thinking i can save a couple bucks with 87 octane fuel - but not if i'm gonna knock my engine apart...if anyone has experience, let me know how long youve been sucessfully using lower grade fuel in your car. thanks!

Re: 30V AHA engine fuel requirements
sorry - forgot to mention - i'm also interested in hearing from those with BAD experiences.....perhaps even moreso than those that have cheated sucessfully.

it won't damage the engine, you have knock sensors to prevent that
however you won't save any money either, running on lower octane will reduce your fuel economy more then the savings will be. Also, you're running the risk of damage if one of the knock sensors stops working. All in all, if you want to run regular fuel get a car designed for it, don't cheap out on this one.

thanks - was thinking it was worth the peace of mind anyway when i filled up this afternoon - its only like $5 more per tank.

Re: 30V AHA engine fuel requirements
depends on where you are too. with a NA motor at high altitude i get away just fine with our midgrade (88 octane). i am at around 5600 feet though so that might not work for most.
