Default No need to pull belly pan - coolant will flow out of the small hose at the front of the expansion

tank while the pump is running. You should be able to see it pissing into the tank if your tank isn't gunked up too badly. Pump is located in the engine valley, under the intake manifold. You'll be able to hear it with hood open if it's running. Faint humming noise.

Default My pump is up front, passenger-side, not under manifold.

Expansion tank is no longer clear, but I reckon I could start the car and then shut it off and remove expansion tank's cap (before engine gets hot, coolant gets compressed) to see if it's pumping.

Default Sorry - I must be confused with the 2.7t engine. It's hell to get old and having both cars, I'm

often remembering things somewhat mixed at times. I do know I can hear the pump in the Passat w/ the ATQ engine after every shutdown - sure of that much.
