Default Engine health

My 2001 audi a6 2.8 has 180,000 miles on her and is well maintained.

I just completed a compression test on all cylinders twice. The car was warmed up first, fuse pulled for fuel pump etc.
The first time l had the engine cranked 5 times. All cylinders were at 190 psi plus or minus 5 to 10 psi.
I then cranked each cylinder 10 times. All cylinders were 210 psi plus or minus 5 to 10psi.

I have read many threads and it would seem you crank the engine anywhere from 3 to 10 cranks. Most threads indicate it is the difference between the cylinders that is the concern. I am trying to get an idea of the condition of the rings. I am the original owner of the car.
Any input would be appreciated as l am not a mechanic but enjoy working on the car. I just dont know if l am pushing my luck with the age and mileage on the car.
Thank you.

l hope this is posted in the right place. Please let me know if it is not.

Your engine seems to be in good health, so just relax, you have taken good care of it.
Your post is well done, and a good reason that if you take good care of your car, it can last a long time.
Tell us more about how long you have owned it, and what your oil change interval has been, what type of oil, etc.
Any major repairs ?

Sorry for the delay in responding – I had to gather all the details. This could be information overload. If so, l apologize.
- purchased the car new in Oct. 2000
- oil & filter changes every 3000 miles
- no special oil, however, at 120000 miles switched to synthetic (whatever is on sale )
- no major repairs
Other stuff:
- replaced front CV axles due to cracked boots

60,000 - timing belt changed along with all belts, water pump, all rollers, tensioners, gaskets, seals, etc…, replaced fuel filter

120,000 – all the above plus had alternator rebuilt (preventative maint.), brake fluid complete change, transmission drain & fill, power steering flush, complete radiator fluid change

180,000 – changed all vacuum hoses, cooling system hoses (preventative maint.) and expansion tank (discovered surface cracks on bottom ), replaced EVAP purge valve (failed vacuum test), replaced fan control module (aux water pump stopped running), currently completing transmission drain and filter change

Except for the cv axle replacements and alternator rebuild, my wife and l completed all the other work with the invaluable support and generous contributions of forum members.

Peter

You are a very good example of how to take good care of a vehicle. I enjoyed reading your schedule of maintenance.

Audi builds a very solid car, electrics may be one of the main issues, but you did not report any, that is great.
