Warm up the engine?

I live in Wisconsin, and temps here during the winter are near or below 32 degrees. It says in my car manual not to let my A4 idle. Do you guys agree with this or do you think I should let the car run and warm up for a few minutes prior to use?

I figure that if you are using a quality motor oil, and change it regularly, I don't see how letting it idle for a couple of minutes is going to allow the extra fuel to break down the oil enough to wear critical engine parts. Just my opinion.
