How good is Audi's 4.2L V8 cause I just bought a 2001 A6 with the 4.2L

From the mechanical view point, it is a great engine. You will have the typical problems with the valve cover gasket leaks, cam tensioner gasket leaks, oil cooler o-ring leaks and coolant sensor leak. Timing belt kit at 80,000 miles and serpentine belt. If you live in a cold climate, the PCV system will freeze (has to be below -15 deg F) It is probably the most reliable engine Audi has made in recent years(my opinion). Take a look around the 4.2, D2 and A6 forum and use the search function, and you will see the typical problems. "Search The Forum Archives",(STFA), some people use a different four lettered work for the "F", but don't let them intimidate you!
