To be honest though, you shouldn't need to use that diagram. Once you remove the plastic cover from the engine, you should be able to see 90% of the vacuum lines. The only lines that can be difficult to see are the ones that go to the reservoir on the drivers side, and the ones that go back to the combi valves behind the heads.

Photos show a somewhat closeup of the sticker on the hood as well as the whole hood. Note sticker on lower left of open hood as viewed from the front of the car.
Mine is a 2004 A8L with 4.2L engine. I don't know how different your car may be.
I hope this helps you.

Interesting - I dont have one of those... possibly my hood has been changed at some point?? - although i dont believe the car has been in an accident (its a UK model if that matters)
The car is currently at a VW/Audi specialist, they say although the diagnostics are not saying the MAF is stuffed they think that could be the problem - a new part is arriving tomorrow, hopefully this will fix the issue.
They say they checked the Vacuum lines (I said thats where the fault could be) and they say they cant find any problem with them.
I shall keep you all posted - thanks Audikillsbmw - your the only person who has been able to assist with this. :-)
