SE: Excessive oil consumption 2.0 TDI

Hello! Probably a topic that isn't anything new. I've got 2014 2.0 TDI (110 kW) with an engine model of CJCD if that says anything at all.
Have been driven with this thing about 50k kilometres (total mileage is 250k kilometres) and ever since I bought it I've had this excessive oil consumption - roughly 1L per 700-1000 km, depending on where I drive (inside city or long journeys).
Interesting is that in winter it consumes about 1L per 300 km (have experienced it 2 times for now). When it becomes warmer, the consumption is as described earlier.
I know that the common issue is said to be probably the piston rings but could that higher consumption in winter lead to another conclusion maybe?
So far I have used the following oil: Valvoline SynPower XL-III C3 5W-30. Last time I had an oil change I went to Castrol Edge 5W-40 as it was suggested by a guy who works in Audi - saying that it might make things better a bit. I don't know, cannot tell the difference really. Consumption is about the same. I don't have any blue smoke also when driving or accelerating. I have had a faulty DPF alert for 2 times which lead to DPF cleaning though.
What can you guys say about it? Any thoughts or recommendations? What happens if I continue to drive like this (topping up the oil regularly)?
