Default "Replaced R/S outer CV boot" What exactly does that mean?

I just found the service receit for maitenence preformed right before I purchased my car used last summer (well actually the day after but thats a rather long and painful story). I got a new clutch and apparently a new CV boot. I knew about the cluth but the CV boot is a bonus.

Which ones exactly does R/S outer CV boots refer too? I have had some squeaks lately, and maybe the one which were not replaced could use at as the car is passing through 66k miles.

Default Prolly means Right Side CV (Constant Velocity) Joint boot outer...

there's an inner (at the diff or tranny) and an outer (at the hub area). These boots are over the CV joint which are devices which allow the suspension to swing while having power delivered to the wheel at the same time...it's like a cup with some ribs...and then an inner part with bearings...this coupling is free to swing around and transfer torque...but it needs a lot of grease to keep the friction wear down...so they pack a ton of grease in there and put a rubber boot around it...the boot fails grease goes everwhere etc etc...it's a big mess.

Default cool thanks for the info, do you think the fact that the rights boots . .

were replaced could relate to the fact that lately i have been noticing some serious squeaks while turning left. Sometimes any left turn will prompt a high pitched squeak that increases in frequency with speed.

Do the boots have anything at all to do with squeaking?

Thanks again.
