Fuel filter: er, screw that. I was rushed for time as the mechanic needed the lift for money-making opportunities, so I didn't feel like wedging the tank.
The filter appeared to be loose in its bracket, it slid forward a good 1/4" inch. So I could probably ignore the Impossible Bracket BoltĀ® But it bumped into two fuel lines.
Hey Audi: why not notch the body just an inch more, run the fuel lines there, and OMFG EASY FILTER CHANGE?!
Fuel line crimps all had a bit of rust on them and I didn't feel like a fuel leak.
Filter isn't clogged, car doesn't run lean at all, was going to do this as preventive maintenance.
I'll do it another time, or have a mechanic do it for me.
Forgot the camera at home. *smacks forehead* So I'll get some B5 underside pics next time I do an oil change (1-2 months).
Cleaned up gunk caused by rear head cam plug oil leak. One little dribble, over time, caused so much nastiness: on the exhaust, on the transmission, on the driveshaft, on the cradle, and belly pan. Yuck.
Contacted Sybesma's Electronics, as per THIS POST and found them to be incredibly helpful.
Here's how it goes:
You email them.
They email you form.
You fill out form, email it back with pictures.
They mail you replacement mirror ON THE HONOR SYSTEM that you mail back old one (!!). I guess they do have your CC# to charge you if you don't, but seriously impressed by that.
You mail back your old one with pre-paid form. For $75 and a new autodim mirror? This... this is an Audi, right? and not a Honda,... right?

When I bought the car: brown mirror
A few weeks ago: mirror pee'd all over shifter
After that: Migrating brown pool, sometimes puddle
Yesterday: Ball-and-socket finally broke, mirror useless
