Default You've seen Groundhog Day, right?

If you're getting that feeling (I am), I think it means that you spend entirely too much time here (I do). :-/

Default Brrman is on the right track, however.......

Audi for the most part makes Audi and VW makes VW. The case with the B5 Passat and G/J IV was pulling Audi technology down. It was already present, performed well, and was what a struggling VW needed to get back on its feet as cheaply as possible. Yes, they do share some platforms, but its like Ford and Jaguar these days.

They are two separate entities with different agendas, resources, and engineers. They will completely split (in terms of layout, etc, not business-wise) away from each other when the B6 Passat, J/G V cars arrive.

Default it starts at 55K then goes up for a 12 cylinder

"six-cylinder model starting at $55,000 and a 10-cylinder diesel and 12-cylinder gasoline model in more expensive versions."

Default It most certainly is....

I work for VW now. Everytime I used to go there for stupid little parts, they had them in stock because the Passat uses just about all the same exact parts as my car does...

Default I like the exterior/interior styling a lot and as far as everything else goes, it's an A8 with a

different shell.... Should be a great car, going to be way underrated, and most likely ignored....but it is going to be a great car with some sweet powerplants too.

Default look underneath a VW and AUDI.. very different.. AUDI uses lots of Aluminum even for A4.

VW cars can get rusted very easily as u all know.. and rarely finds a piece of aluminum in a VW (othe than aluminum alloy wheel rims) lol.

Default Well, yes and no. The A4 and A6 share many more parts than the A4 and Passat, because the A6 has....

many of those same parts too. The Audi siblings share things like HVAC controls, window swithces, radio, steering wheels... etc. The Passat only shares drivetrain parts with its Audi cousins.

Default They have the same parent, but Audi makes their own cars. They share many parts, sure...

but that is not a bad thing. Audi has lots of R&D$$ thanks to VW, and both maker's cars benefit from Audi's engineers creations. Why VW is leaning into the luxo market I don't know, as it would seem to me that go against everyting that VW has done in the past.. They resisted importing the PAssat Syncro for years, becasaue they didn't want to compete directly with Audi's quattros. Now, they are marketing a direct compteitor to Audi's up market cars.. I don't get it.
