Default it's not a terrible idea, but learning on less power allows you learn smooth is fast

a little better, at least in my book. Teaches you more about carrying speed through corners and helps you find better lines than if you're just able to just power out of 'em if you botch up.

that and also having less power kick on possibly keeps ya out of potential trouble... i.e. travelling w/ too much speed down the straight and not judging the braking zones poperly, etc.

Also, it says something when you can keep up with or pass more powerful cars in an underpowered car

those are street only pads. not track pads, even for a beginner namely at big tracks.
