1.8T Chip Upgrade & Engine Life

I was just wondering if the chip that ups the A4 1.8T's horsepower affects the engine life at all. Will I run into problems down the line? Will it void any of my dealer warranty or anything of that nature? Any sort of help would be extremely appreciated.
Thanks!

by law -- your warrenty cannot be voided.. although, if your chip frys your turbo, and they know your chipped (which can be worked around) then they can deny the service
doesn't happen too much.. most people around here have Giac or APR chips.. GIAC is faster... APR runs less boost (safer? maybe)
you can fry your turbo and stuff.. but people have been chipped for 100k+ no problems

keep it a very long time or drive it in it's high boost range often. They can't legally void your warranty unless it directly causes a problem (overrev, ECU short out, etc.), but what are you gonna do if they say they won't warranty it, hire a lawyer???
This all sounds very negative, but the fact of the matter is, rarely do bad things happen. There are THOUSANDS os chipped A4s out there, and very very few of them have had major problems. As with anything that puts additional stress on the engine, you will lose engine life, but that could be 140,000 miles rather than 150,000, whoknows.
Put it this way - I'm chipped. :-)

codes that say i unplugged it, or are they erased after a few starts and stops. Would I just switch out the chip like a week before I bring the car in for service? I'm not sure if I will end up with an APR, may go with GIAC which equals no EMCS. I hear rumors of that it takes 15 starts or that it takes 100000000000.
Thanks,

There are an infinite number of excuses you could use - Went away for a trip and discon. yer battery, ran the lights down, discon. the ECU cause you were losing power, whatever. They really can't say jack **** - so f*&k em.

If you disconnect your battery it does not record a low battery, if your battery dies you don't get that code stored (trust me my battery died and there was no code). Obviously if your battery is dying, you would be getting low voltage as well.
Disconnect the battery before swapping ECU's then there is no power for the codes to be stored. Swap ECU's and reconnect the battery if you don't have a VAG tool.

but i've always heard that it record the no battery fault After you hook it back up... so, if it ever gets power after being off, it will record a no power fault.
