Hey guys. I'm brand new on these forums and have just purchased a 2001 A4 1.8T AWM engine code. my car is cranking for a very long time before starting, this is both cold and hot starts. once it finally starts there is still a large stumble before it levels out at 900rpm. it has been getting slowly worse and the only code I am getting is a P0172.
I have changed the spark plugs and coil packs so far. before spending any more money I want to get a more solid idea of what this could be.

So a couple of things could be causing this. A leaking injector being one. I would run a can of BG 44K through the car gas tank. Some people like seafoam - it is stronger but maybe more appropriate in this situation.
After that you almost have to go to a independent shop to get to the root cause

Also wondering if this could be related. Around the same time these symptoms began my central locking pump **** the bed. whenever I get in my car I can hear the locking pump going for a solid 10 seconds or so, could that be drawing too much power on startup and making it harder to turn over?

http://www.obd-codes.com/p0172 Google can be your friend.
My guess is a boost leak.
