Default I'll chime in here too...

Just got my 99.5 1.8TQMS and have been very irritated by the same thing. Anybody out there that has noticed this and then chipped? Did the problem go away? BTW, I would not describe it as turbo lag(the absence of power), rather an uneven pick up of power. I for one would loveto find away around this...
CB

Poor steering feel? Maybe my perspective is different (recovered pickup man) but this car gives me excellent steering feedback.

After reading this post earlier tonight I went out to really watch for this and 2000-3000 is where I noticed it. Solution: higher rpms.

Default Could 90 octane or less contribute to this problem...

I usually use 90 because here in Amarillo there must be an embargo on 91+ octane so I use 90 most of the time. I literally drove to 8 different stations tonight and could not find >90 octane. Any ideas?
parkerpt
99.5 1.8T qms -love it with its little imperfections and all

Default My '98 has some hesitation but....

I have pretty much concluded that the hesitation, primarily 2nd gear between 2000 - 2500 or 2750 under load seems to be related to AC and high ambient temp 85 or so and up. It bothers me also it is almost like the car misses (it doesn't). I've only speculated that it could be nock sensors retarding the engine to avoid ping under certain conditions. But I expect the APR chip (within the next month) to make it a mute point.

Default Chip, possible solution...

I had the same problem on my 99 and it's been buging me for the longest time.. I got my car chipped about a month ago and this is still a problem..
My brother has an 93 RX-7 and has experienced the same problem in the past and has been a problem for many RX-7 owners.. Their problem was the cars grounding is not good.. The solution was to ad another ground strap to the car and he hasn't had any hesitation since... Maybe this might be the same problem on the A4???

Default My 99.5 1.8T does this also...Glad to hear I'm not the only one. It feels to me like clutch slippage or whatever you call what happens when you shift incorrectly and the car "bucks". I plan on bringing this up on 1st service.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one. It feels to me like clutch slippage or whatever you call what happens when you shift incorrectly and the car "bucks". It happens way too often to be that though. I plan on bringing this up on 1st service.
Jasont
99.5 1.8tqms
