Default 1.8T and high octane fuel

I have a 99.5QS 5-speed with the APR v3 1.0bar chip. Has anyone ever tried using race fuel or a high octane (above 96) fuel in their car? I'm wondering if the slight hesitation would go away if a better fuel was used. We here in Houston have to use RFG and I am thinking my very slight hesitation on WOT is due to this. I know it's about $3.00 a gallon but if I went and got a tank load and my problems went away I would start trying different fuels to see which one is best.

Also, does anyone in Houston know where I can get race fuel? I guess I can call MTI or something??

The highest I've seen in NJ is sunoco 100 octane unleaded...everything is that is over 100..110,115 etc. is leaded fuel and can't be put in cars with catalytic converters, it will clog them due to it being lead gas..it is meant for race cars with no cats

Default What about octane booster ?

Y'know the bottles of "octane booster" that they sell in auto parts stores.
(Come to think of it, I've really only seen this product in KMart.)

Does it do anything ? Or is it a leaded product?

Back to the original question about race fuel, I used to mix 1 or 2 gallons of race fuel with a tankful of Sunoco 94 in my old boat ('74 Volvo engine). The thing ran even smoother than my new boat! Never tried it in a car though.

I don't know if this is coincidence or not, but...
I used the red bottle of 104+ octane booster in my Jetta when it had a chip, and my fuel pump died while I had the boost in. Same thing happened to a friend in his BMW while he was using the red bottle.

I've since stayed away from the stuff.
