Witch is quicker of the line a (1.8t 5spd Quattro w/Chip intake and exhaust) or (2.8 v6 5spd Quattro w/Chip intake and exhaust) I was just wondering because i want to get an a4 98-00 and want the one that is quicker. I have heard the V6 is slugish.

The V6 CLAIMS to have faster performance, but the sluggishness of it is that is just doesn't pull through the revs as fast as the 4-turbo. This means that while the 6 may have more power and ultimately accelerate faster on a test, in real life drivability the 4 will be more spirited - and to me that's what's ultimately "faster" ...

quicker off the line due to the low end tq advantage of a v6....1.8 owners will say the 1.8 has the edge. Either way, it's pretty close. The 2.8 is smooth, the 1.8 has the tunability advatage. You might want to get a ride in a chipped 1.8. The nature/feel of a turbo carmight not be what you want.

mainly because the 2.8 is so smooth, there is no big huge rush of power like when the turbo spools up on a 1.8.. One other thing working against the 2.8 is it's long gearing, relative to the 1.8t.

however the shorter gears do get annoying. Go 1.8T its soo much more fun. The turbo whine, the blow off, and the torque just give it a big edge.
