12V JET Folks, here's an idea...

Okay, Bryan said that he found somebody selling a 12V ECU for $200...so, here is what I propose:
1. A "Guinea Pig (GP)" steps forward and agrees to put the JET chip in their car.
2. I buy the spare ECU for $200 (contingent on the part # being the same as what's on my chip)
3. The "Guinea Pig (GP)" verifies the spare chip matches their ECU's part number
4. I send the chip directly to the GP as a spare
5. The GP verifies that the spare chip works in their car (I will not be responsible if something breaks)
6. The GP sends their original chip to JET
7. The GP tests out the JET chip. If acceptable, they return the spare chip to me. If not****, they send the JET chip to me and I end up with a presumably useless $200 investment (and the GP is out $400, but still has a drivable car).
**** The only caveat is that the only way that I will take the JET chip back from the GP is that if it does not work at all. In other words, if the car runs at least as well as before the chip, I will not take it back - even if there are no noticeable performance improvements. I will only take it back if the car is worse than before.
So, Bryan, let me know who to contact about getting the spare ECU. And whoever is the first GP to contact me will get the spare chip. However, I would ask that whoever gets the spare chip move this along quickly - in other words - as soon as you get the spare and verify that it will run your car, send your old ECU directly to JET. If you contact me quick enough, I might even be able to have the spare ECU sent directly to you.

We put together a list of people who would be
interested in this chip. We pick a guinea
pig, hell, I'll do it since my car is otherwise
bone stock (engine and tranny and exhaust is stock)
We contact Jet chips with our list. We guarantee
that all of us will buy the chip if it is all
that they say it's cracked up to be, and they
can split the $400 for the test chip and add it
to each of our orders (10 people, $40 markup, etc.)
The guinea pig tests the chip for free. If he
chooses to keep the chip after 2 weeks, then
the guinea pig will be charged for the chip.
Also, we will need the spare ECU... so everyone
will have to chip in evenly at first for the
spare ECU...
So here goes... we divide the cost of the spare
ECU between ourselves if JET chip agrees to
send us 1 test chipped ECU. I'm sure
AW would be interested in doing a small story..
and others as well... we might want to let JET
chips know of the sales potential here... so if
you're interested, let us know!

In other words, even after I chip, I would like to also have a Stock ECU. So, I do like your plan, but I would still like to buy the spare ECU (at least it saves us from having to collect money for it...)

about the spare ECU... if you want to buy it,
go for it. I can discuss the issue with JET
chips... maybe they'll agree to chip it and
then "un"chip it once they realize my car is
simply a test car, and that the spare ECU
does not belong to me.

Since there has never really been any reason for 12Vers to change their ECUs, there's probably nobody out there that can say for certain that it would work...

but I can't tell you that I can use it in my
car since I don't know the part # for my ECU.
However, here's my VIN # if you can figure out
the ECU part # from it:

Its a real pain...you have to remove the ECU cover (Under the hood right in front of the driver) which has 5 or 6 bolts - one of which is almost impossible to reach...but eventually you'll get it.
When you can, find out what your ECU number is, and if its the same as mine, I'll go ahead and order it from the number above (what company is that anyway?). I'll either have the ECU shipped directly to you, or I'll have them ship it to me and then send it to you.
Thanks,
Scott
