150,000 Warranty on my A4
Hi,
I'm a new 2000 A4 Quattro owner. I love this car. It has an automatic and quattro, and was thinking it was be sluggish, but I find it to be fairly zippy. Of course the manual would've been a lot more fun, but hey, I like chillin. Reminds me much of my old GTi 16v as far as handling ability. Of course, I've been a bit tainted since I've been driving a F150 for a year now. Anything that wasn't over 2 tons would handle great in comparison.
Any ways, on to my question:
Anyone have any experience with private companies carrying the warranty after the factory? I just bought this Audi with 86,000 miles on it. I thought it was a bit high at first, but then I found out it had a 150,000 warranty by a company called "Pro-Guard" that is transferable (for $50) I thought I scored. It's an "Emerald" package, with $0 deductible and is supposed to cover the same stuff as the original warranty. It seems to good to be true, but the previous owner did pay $3k for it at the time it was bought.
I'm working on getting it transferred over this Monday, but was wondering if anyone has used this company or others like it? I'm a little skeptical on how willing they are to repair stuff, or if you have to go the dealer for 'regular' maintenance schedules. I like changing my own oil, and tinkering myself---was even thinking of a chip (probably would void this though)
Thoughts, experience, blah blahs??
