15W 50 for 2.8 30V good or bad?, couldn't find solid answer in search....

thanks...think I'll give some Mobil 1 0w-40 a shot to see if it helps..
but I guess what it comes down too is how the oil is being consumed. If I am burning most of it off at the 5000+ rpm range then a XXw-40 or 50 should in theory not burn off as quickly as the -30 oil. I guess we'll see. If it is slipping through internally, i.e. valve spring seals, then it may not make much of a difference. I'm aware of the problem with consumption in some 2.8's and I'm not too concerned as long as it doesn't get progressively worse. Just thought I'd see what you guys had to say since I'm new to Audi's. Thanks again.

BTW, my experience with 15w-50 was in the winter. I did notice improvement when it got...
warm for a few days. So my experience may be different than other people who used it during summer.
