I've seen a few A4s w/ 19"s. It was too extreme for me. 18's fit the bill nicely.

I agree. I went from 19" CH to 18". 19" tires cost $1000

Default I have the Radons which have a slight lip/dish to them which makes it look smaller....

than they actually is. I think if I go for a 18in where the spokes go to the edge, like an R6 or SSR GT1 I will be happy.

For some odd reason I gravitated to the lip wheels in both cases..Type-T and Radons. I must resist!

Default A high-powered car can definitely push 18" wheels.

less sidewall the better. I use 16" personally, but have used 18" before, and do feel the difference.

Next year I will be running 17s, because it is the "compromise" size. no money for 18" hoosiers.

but given unlimited ressources I would still get 18s (and a camber kit)

regards,
Liam

Default Well...there is no argument there, but when you do any comparison....

all other things need to be equal. Same car, power, track, driver, weather, tire brand and model etc. The only difference being wheel size on the same brand and model of wheel.

Default Absolutely agree...

I was sold on 17s, for the compromise of ride and handling. But last minute, called back, and switched to 18s, NO regrets, and i wouldnt go back. The ride is tight, but sporty, handles great... go for it. Boba is right, you'll have "wheel envy" (good one...)

Default I spent a month or so deciding 17s or 18s

Mainly because of the cost difference in the wheel. The tire difference is minimal in a given brand, the rim difference added up depending on the rim.

Beyond that, my 18" Oettinger RE's have proven to be damn strong, and they've got abuse. My only complaint is the lips are soft and scratch easily from road debris, but such is life.

18's have more road contact and less sidewall height. That means two things, 1) you feel the road more and 2) your miles per gallon will go down.
