After checking out all the A4's with 18's at Road Atlanta this weekend, I think I need a set. It's going against my better judgement. For you guys that have them, are you happy with them? They look great but what about durability, ride quality, fender clearance?

Be sure to not get anything wider than an 8.5" unless you want to get into fender rolling and whatnot. The ride is a bit harsher than my stock 16"s, but that's to be expected.

Cast 18" with 40 series tires are a sure fire recipe for owning egg shaped wheels. In addition cast wheels are heavy and cast 18" can get REAL heavy.
Clearance is not an issue so long as you remain withing the width and offset range recommended for the A4 (any diameter wheel).

Let me rephrase that...forged material is stronger than cast, that's a given. When designing a forged wheel, you can make the rim just as strong as a cast wheel, using less material, hence making it lighter. That's usually the goal in making a forged rim, saving weight.
The second caveat with forged wheels is the center vs. rim sections. Generally, if the center of the wheel is forged, that is how the wheel is marketed. The lip may not be, and in some cases, that makes it vulnerable to damage.
I know, paragraph 1 and 2 are contradictory, but with that aside, please humor me with your thoughts. Do forged wheels tend to hold up better over time?
