Default I run 18s in the Boston burbs, but when I go into town it's a bit rough

especially with the recent snow plowing. If I were in the city more often or lived there, I'd go with 17.

my 2 cents

Default I think my 17s are a bit rough in NYC!

I am enjoying my 16" snow tires right now.

Default I used to go to NYC quite often...

And I have 18s on my A4. Yet when I go to the city, I only go to certain areas since the road conditions are rediculous. They are drivable on 18s, but ull be dodging holes like a maniac.

I strongly suggest u get 17s.

Default "too rough" is subjective. But I run 17"s with Hyperco 450/500 spring rates and

I don't think it's "too rough" (I drive to into NYC a several times each month). It is definitely stiff and far from oem 'comfort' but I that is the way I wanted it.

The bigger issue in NYC is wheel damage. I have bent 2 of my 17" wheels on mammoth potholes. There is no way to avoid them. Fortunately, the potholes are only prevailant during the winter months so my summer wheels have been fine.

Default I run 18's in Boston...

So far so good. Just about all my minor rim damage has been done outside the city. Besides, if you get 17's you'll always wish you got the 18's.
