anyone have a source to find this unit??? I have look an looked and keep running into compatablity issues. Will all 96 models work with other 96 models? and will 97 & 98 work? any help would be great. Thanks.

I've got 2 96 climate control modules.

Only the 96 will work, you can recode a later unit but AC won't work.

The earlier units from the 93-95 90's will work too. ;-)

Did the 100 or early A6 have the same unit also?

Nope. Must be a "B" chassis.

how much do you need to get for one? Mine is freaking out on a reg basis.

AudiMick is 150% correct he helped me when I had the same issue. on a 96 you need a 96 or older. because 97 and up are all coded differently. I bought a 97 thinking it would work. it works for heat and display. but for a/c it wont. some people get lucky and it will work for their a/c but after a couple weeks of using it they go out. as far as a 100 or a6 your alone on that. I never researched that much into it. best bet is go on ebay and send it to be rebuilt. it only cost you 57 bucks. thats 50 for the service and 7 for shipping. I did this with mine and I am 100% happy with the service.
