You can get it close enough to run by eyeball, but you can't get it right without the tools.

Glad to hear you got it going. Normally i would flog you for not using the tools to set the timing, but based on those comp. #'s I would guess that motor is on it's last legs anyway. Running out of oil seems to do that.

I don't know if you paid for the car or your son, but it sounds like he needs to be paying for the repairs and/or a new car if he kills this one. Maybe he'll slow down a bit. Maybe not. I know that in my youth I was a very responsible driver and obeyed all traffic laws.
