Default 1997 Audi A4

I recently purchased a 1997 audi a4 with 125k miles on it. I was wondering if i could chip it and what i would use? any other ideas on simple modifications that increase horsepower. It is the 2.8l v6. Also if i wanted to get a cold air intake what kind would i get and what is the average price?

Default Ill save you....

You gotta search for this first. Go to FAQ or search the forums. There arent many upgrade for V6. There is a list of tuners in FAQ where you will find an intake you like.

Guys will bite your head off for this Re-re-re-re-re-re-repost. Thought I'da save you the trouble. Im in a good mood.

in cheap and easy power.

Default No chips for the 12v A4. People tend to say that cold air intakes are hot air intakes and the stock

airbox is best. If you still want performance parts go to the 12v forum and see if anybody has used parts for sale. You will be looking for a velocity stack, throttle body, MAF, and a few other parts. These parts were once made by a guy named Mance and lots of people have them.

If I were you though I would concentrate on suspension and brakes. It's a lot easier to improve those areas of the car as opposed to the engine.

Although the engine is tough to mod, it is a bulletproof engine. I sold my 96 A4 with 155k and it burned little to no oil and still got 30+ mpg on the highway.

Excellent advice: "I would concentrate on suspension and brakes."

Default not much to do, iirc modifying the stock intake actually resulted in a loss of hp

dont quote me on that, but seem to remember looking a cold air intake when i had a 12v a few years back the result was -1HP, +1ft/lb of torque.
those numbers seem to pop into my mind.
anyways just do a suspension, brakes, wheels. thats what i did and it was a fun car to drive.

Default Why dont people research before they buy a 12v to tune? There should be an auto response to these.

Damn.

Default I ALMOST bought a 30V avant, right before I found what I have now

I would've been happy with the car I'm sure, but would've regretted not getting the 1.8T for it's tuning possibilities.

Default true.. but you've said on numerous occasions your happy with just a chip...

a 2.8L 30V is pretty damn close to a 1.8t with a chip. Plus it's loads more reliable and requires less maintenance...just saying
