Default 1998 audi a4 1.8t smoking and bad turbo!

I was given an audi a4 1.8t, the turbo went out about a week ago (i have had it for three weeks). I did not drive it until I went to pick up the new turbo. While driving there I noticed that it was spewing white smoke out tje exhaust and has devoloped an oil leak (none happened before). Thoughts and opinions? Is this all the turbo or is there another causes.

Well it probably is just the turbo, it can totally fill the exhaust with oil and it will leak out the seams and crevices of the exhaust, and for some reason the smokes always white/grey when they fail not really blue. If the turbo failed make sure you find out why, typically the oil pump pickup tube in the oil pan packs with carbon and sludge, as with the feed line to the turbo gets blocked with carbon and starves the turbo of oil. The new turbo will die very shortly if thats the case and yes, i have been there and had to re replace a turbo for not replacing the turbo feed line with the new turbo.

Thank you, I have no experience with turbos what-so-ever. I understand them and have seen and heard them, but always turned down working on them. I almost scrapped the car when I found out it was the turbo but then my friend pointed out I just did the control arms, suspension, cv joints and repkaced the clutch and that all that would be a waste. That being said, I see there seems to be 3 options:
1. New part of the same type
2. A new "bigger better badder" new part (although my funds are limited atm)
3. Get used parts now, get higher end ones in 3-4 months when I can afford it.

Which would you recommend?

Also, all the numbers (all but the boost and that is because i do not know what it was to start with) are good on the car and no check engine lights are on, that is why I assumed it was the turbo causing all of it.
