We have a 1999.5 A4 1.8T with about 125k miles that has a shot engine. We believe it was caused by a deer hitting us which may have affected the cooling system, causing the engine to overheat. We are trying to prove this to the insurance company, but in the meantime, how much could we get by selling it for parts? Who would give us top dollar for that sort of thing?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. As you can imagine, since we still owe $9k on it, it's a tricky situation.

Unfortunately, cars don't fetch a lot of money when you try to sell them as parts cars.

Even with the new (used) engine in the car, you would likely get around $9K for the car, and the engine with installation will run you about $2000-2500. Add another $500 if you opt to have a new clutch put in at the same time (no addt'l labor).

Seriously, not sure, I didn't hit it. They were going about 30-40.
