Hi all,
I have a 1999 A4 1.8T Quattro whose alarm goes off when parked in the hot sun. The horn honks and the blinkers flash. The horn stops after a few minutes but the lights continue to blink.
Any ideas how to fix this? Is there a way to temporarily disengage the alarm system until I get it fixed? Pull a fuse, maybe? I think my neighbors are getting ready to hang me.
This is the factory alarm.

disable the interior motion sensor and give it a try. This happened to me (although i didnt assume hot sun was the culprit) and that seemed to work.

temporarily disengage? Not really. THe alarm computer is also tied into the windows, lights, ignition and everything else that can be cotroled with the remote.
If you start pulling wire harnesses from the CLP, you'll loose windows and interior lights at the very least. I had to do this when my CLP failed in order to drive the car.\
You'll probably also loose the coding for the remote.
On the drivers side inner rear 1/4 panel is the horn for the alarm. YOu can remove the interior panel to access it from the trunk and disconect the wire... that will solve the issue of noise.
Find a vag, determine the reason for the alarm, replace the sensor.

you can also disable the alarm but keep the keyless entry with the VAG-COM
