Default 1999 A42.8 w/ 110,000 miles - Reliable?

I am doing a bit of research for a friend on a 1999 or 2000 A4 2.8 with over 100,000 miles. I used to have a 1998 A41.8TMS and loved it and had no problems but I am not sure how these cars do over 100,000 miles. My friend is looking for something solid that won't have too many issues. How does the 2.8 engine fair at that mileage? Is there anything to keep in mind and check out before buying? Thanks for all of the advice!

Default hmm thats quiet a bit of mileage ...things are gonna go no doubt ..any car with that mileage can not

be completely "reliable". I would highly suggest he looks in to a Toyota Corolla or something like that if he is looking for something that will be reliable and wont need as many fix ups.

Default Give me yer user ID and we can talk:)

Anyway, if solid and reliable are the concerns, wrong car. These car will nitpick you to death, especially if you do not do all your own work.

The engines are very reliable, its the rest of the car you need to worry about.

Default As mentioned, unless you're willing to do your own work or really enjoy the drive it's the wrong car

If you just want reliable transportation get a civic.

If you're willing to put up with frustrating nickle and dime problems especially over 100K b/c you enjoy driving it then go for it.
