Are 19's too big?

I hope your daily/common driving routes have good roads 'coz otherwise, you'll end up braking and dodging bumps and holes every so often (not my idea of fun driving). One mistake and you can bend your wheels then you'll have to go through the trouble of repairs. 35 series tires are just to thin and I don't think you can have your 19's on an A4 any other way.
18's are more reasonable if you ask me but then again, I've bent 18's before with 40 series tires on what I thought were "good roads".
