Default 2.6L Transmission Removal??

I found out that my torque converter is going out and in order to smog it I need to get it fixed, I know enough about motor and transmissions I think me and my dad could do it. Just seeing if anyone has removed there tranny or to just tell me some pointers on doing this. Also any nice cheap torque converters out there??

Have your old converter rebuilt at a ZF certified repairer. Buy a Bentley manual to learn how to remove the trans.

There are usually some for sale on E-bay.

The 2.6 wasn't sold in the US, so maybe you are in a another country. Check locally?

So if i get this tranny out should I just go get a refurb one and throw it in there, the car has 140k on it, and I really dont know if I should just go with a whole new set up?

Have your torque converter rebuilt by a ZF certified repair center.

I realize that, but the guy that was going to re-build it said to think about replaceing the transmission, Iam asking if it would be worth the 1600.00 to have it completely replaced, or just have the TC rebuilt!
